About Us: Who We Are & What We Do

BaSEF

BaSEF is an Egyptian-German Cooperation project between the University of Cologne, the British University in Egypt and the American University in Cairo.

The project seeks to establish a cultural exchange between Egyptian and German students and young scholars by building up a research network focusing on sustainable energy topics.

The aim is to enable the participants to develop together solutions regarding sustainable energy and think about perspectives for a global energy future.

Mission

Building up a long-term academic cooperation between the Institute of Energy Economics (EWI) at the University of Cologne, the Economic Department of the Faculty of Business Administration, Economics and Political Science at the British University in Egypt and the Department of Petroleum and Energy Engineering at the American University in Cairo.

Connecting young scholars from University of Cologne, the British University in Egypt and the American University in Cairo to work together on fields regarding sustainable energy.

Developing together sustainable concepts for the future and finding solutions for climate change.

Contributing to stronger research and sustainable economic relations between both countries Egypt and Germany.

Contributing to fulfil the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 7 (Affordable and Clean Energy), 13 (Climate Action) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) of the United Nations.
